Necessity
Howard Beach needs a new bridge built from Crossbay Blvd to Old Howard Beach. The traffic going through old Howard must be quite unbearable. Mostly, it's needed for an alternate emergency escape route for the people of Howard Beach. It was wonderful years ago when Howard Beach was a secluded area, not plowed through by so many. Now, I understand that many outsiders are coming in to enjoy Charles Park on the weekends, which makes the formerly quiet side streets unsafe for children. If there was an entrance to Howard Beach where the old bridge used to be, most of the traffic would enter at the Park area only and exit the same way. Why hasn't anyone thought of that. Instead, they built that rediculous pedestrian crossing from Howard Beach to Hamilton Beach. What a waste of money that was!
