Comments on Lindenwood
What does everyone think of Lindenwood? I grew up in H.B. but now I am living in Lindenwood. What do people think? I would like to know because I live here and am experiencing certain events that I never experienced before in H.B. Thanks.

Re: Comments on Lindenwood

Lindenhood is now considered East New York.

Re: Comments on Lindenwood

East New York is in Brooklyn, hard to fathom how Lindenwood would be considered part of it.  Received mail when we lived in HB that said Jamaica, NY 11414.

Re: Comments on Lindenwood

Johnny try driving through Lindenhood and then East New York, and you'll see not much of a difference.

Re: Comments on Lindenwood

Your point being?, there's not much difference between South Brooklyn and Red Hook either.

Let me take a wild guess. You are from the Old HB side? Or maybe even Ozone Park.

Re: Comments on Lindenwood

While I think the clown who made the comments likening Lindenwood to East New York was definitely trying to belittle it, I don't think this thought process is necessarily a put down on most people's part, just a reflection of the pariochial, small town mentality of most New Yorkers that divides and then subdivides the city, e.g. Harlem isn't simply Harlem, it's Spanish (originally Italian) Harlem, East Harlem, "HARLEM" etc.  I relocated to Florida in 1975 and lived in Coral Spring, I've seen some comments on this web site from people who are careful to say that they live in "Ramblewood" which is the subdivision of Coral Springs where I lived.  We lived on 96 St & 162 Ave, but I don't think of myself as being from 'old' Howard Beach because we moved there just as the subway was extended to it and I always considered that to be the defining line between old & new residents.

Re: Comments on Lindenwood

Please don't equate Lindenwood or Howard Beach with East New York.  Howard  Beach is civilized, with homes well cared for, families with values, low crime.  East New York has the highest crime rate in the city, one of the highest rates of children born out of wedlock.   Geographically, they are close.   Characteristically, no comparison.

Re: Comments on Lindenwood
I'm born and raised in ENY, moved out when I was 12, lived in maybe the worst part....have lived in Lindenwood since '95 and in that short time, even I see it "changing" I love it when people say things like "yeah but Lindenwood and HB will never change" YEAH RIGHT! I've seen it happen with my own eyes, it's like a cancer...contact me in about 20 years and tell me how "nice" Lindenwood is......OPEN YOUR EYES!
