Miss Papp
Miss Papp: Home Ec teacher at P.S. 146 Does anyone remember the pink apple sauce she taught us how to make? It wasn't flavored with anything but sugar, no food coloring. The coloring came directly from the red skin of the apples. Does anyone remember the table top burners in that kitchen?

[Ms. Papp was the eco teacher in 7th and 8th grades in P.S.146....she taught us all how to make Spanish Rice... I don't remember if it was good or not.....She also taught most of us how to sew...she couldn't get through to me and SHE wound up making my graduation dress (everyone had to make their graduation dress in 1957)....and I won the sewing award......it was kind of funny ....

I do remember that Spanish rice too! I don't remember Miss Papp teaching us sewing. I remember Miss Anne Levin helping us to make front aprons in her classroom. I believe Mrs. O'Reilly or Mrs. Fannon taught us how to sew graduation dresses when I was there. I did not graduate from that school, after all, we moved away so I never did finish that dress. What a wonderful time that was!
