Let's talk about the mainsteam of HB, the creek! What goes on in the canal now? Does it ever overflow anymore? I guess no one swims there anymore. Are there as many row boats as there used to be? What goes on at the park now, formerly called the Casino? Does anyone know the Costello family in old Howard Beach? If anyone knows what happened to any of these families, post it, please. The Zecchini's, The Decanio's, The Stacey's, the Witherspoons, the Pomerico's with Pug Cutlet, the Torre's, the Shyler's, the Scott's, the Butler's, the Saran's, the Genzler's, the Miller's, the Quinn's, the O'Kane's, the Markarian's, the Marcel's, the Noonan kids, the Frick's, the Schmidt's, the McHale's, the Lynch's, the Dolce's? Where did they all go?

Not sure if you're asking about the same Pomerico family, but John (Bobby's older brother)& Mary moved to Miami in the 1980's, Mary died about ten years ago, I believe their son Frankie is living in the mid west. There were a number of recent messages posted by Marty Torre's sister, I'm a little curious about Butch Stacey myself.

Yes Martin Torre's sister is Trudy. I was very close friends with her until I moved away. Can you tell me where I might find her postings? I would love to speak with her. Thanks!

As for the Pomerico's, I think I remember when Bobby's older brother got married. It was probably in the '70's. Sorry to hear about his wife. Which brother was married to Rose? Rose is the one who had a small pug dog they called Pug cutlet.

Lovely, I apparently confused the Torres with the Torre's, it was Violet Torres' (OLG Class of 1957) sister, rather than Marty Torre's (also class of 1957) who had been making inquiries about the Pomerico's.

Yes Johnny, I spoke with Rosemary and Ann Torres recently, via email. We spoke about Violet too. They are such a nice family. I had so much fun at their house as a child.

Lovely, the John Pomerico I was referring to was Bobby's older half brother, his son Frankie went to St Francis Prep with my brother Gerry and graduated in 1970, it might be Frankie that you're thinking of, he did get married in the 1970's. Bobby Pomerico lived on 160 Ave and 99 St, I don't remember his mother's name (it might be Rose), she was the older Frank Pomerico's second wife and I'm pretty sure she had a little dog.

Have the creek & canals out to the bay been re-done? We use to go crabbing at night along the docks & fill baskets with crabs. Nothing like the blue claws & soft shells. We also would find a boat or two drifting every once in a while. IS the walkover bridge from Hamilton to 99th st still there? Spent alot of time fishing & swimming there. Is the water quality any better?? Hung out with Robert schmidt & John Lynch
