| My husband was a black market baby who was born October 12, 1960 in Booth Memorial Hospital, Queens, NY. His mother was a Polish girl of 15-16 years old (now about 61 years old) who lived in Forest Hills. His birth father was from Howard Beach 16-18 years old (now in his early 60's) and is either Italian or Greek. The man who told the people who raised him that there was a baby available for adoption was from Howard Beach and worked for the LIRR. His name was (or is) Nick (Rocky) Mosco, Mosca or Moscobatz. Nick worked at the Bow Wow as well as the LIRR. My husband was never legally adopted by the people who raised him and they refuse to disclose his original name. Hence my husband who is now 45 years old has been using the name John Edward Ferrannini which they gave him, his whole life. The problem is that John has no birth certificate in either name. He is a wonderful man who I have been with for 30 years and we have two great teenage sons. He doesn't want anything from either of his birth parents other than to know his original name so that he can change it legally to the name we know him by. John has worked for the LIRR for 26 years and would like to retire in 4 years, but without a birth certificate he may not be able to access his pension. He also cannot get a passport to leave the country for any reason. There goes any hopes of visiting Europe when we retire. I know this all sounds crazy, but with so little to go on and having searched for over 10 years now, I am reaching out to anyone who may know something. The only parents my husband has ever known have been John Paul Ferrannini who also worked for the LIRR until 1980 and his German wife Eleonore Ferrannini who is not so nice. If anyone you can think of may be around the ages of the above and remembers anything, please let me know. We don't want anything from anyone except to know a possible name. The only information that my father in law will give (Eleonore has sworn him to secrecy) is that John's birth father used to race cars on Cross Bay Boulevard in the late 50's early 60's and that both he and the birth mother were too young to raise a child. We believe my husband's name was originally Edward. Not much to go on. We have exhausted all other avenues of search: hospital records, vital statistics, private investigators, all to no avail. Without a name to use it is futile. Please ask around as this mystery is taking a toll on my husband.
Thank you,
Patty Ferrannini

| We aren't really sure what kind of car. All we know is that he raced on Cross Bay Blvd in the late 50's early 60's and may have been either Greek or Italian. Were you around there racing at that time? The teenage girl was from Forest Hills and was definately Polish. Nick who worked at the Bow Wow was the contact between the birth parents and the people who raised my husband. I have a feeling it was fishy because the adoption was never made legal. Anything you might know is appreciated.

I didn't get deep in the street racing scene till much later on, but i know hundreds of people who were involved and are still somewhat involved, i still talk with lots of them.
Knowing atleast the car model would help alot though, color maybe, anything.
As it stands right now i'll ask around if any of them had children and kept it a big secret and if they had any involvement with a man named nick and see if that stirs any memories |
