Chicken Bucket on Crossbay Blvd.
This is a new topic that I hope I get an answer to. Does anyone remember Chicken Bucket? It was just like Kentucky Fried Chicken, even had the Col.'s picture on the bucket that was tilted on the sign up in the air outside the place. I ate there all the time and once on the old Howard Beach site someone remembered it. I guess it would have to be an old timer from the '60's, like me. Of course it was the same company as Kentucky Fried Chicken but just called "Chicken Bucket", in the '60's. The food was much better then and the place was a really nice and clean place, very different from the ones you see today. There was a real diningroom and people would eat in a lot. The cole slaw wasn't chopped like it is now but the taste was the same. The chicken really went downhill from what it was like in the beginning. Does anyone remember the Carvel on Crossbay Blvd? Is there still one there? What now stands where Levine's used to be on the old side of HB? Does anyone see Buddy Yokum from Bud's candy store near the train station in old HB? The place must be a sight now with all the new things happening to it. When I lived there it was the best place, since then on this site, I have learned that it is nothing more than a zoo now. I hope that is not the case. Howard Beach will always be special to me, maybe not home, but still special.

Chicken Bucket on Crossbay Blvd.
The Carvel no longer stands, and Cross Bay Blvd. turned into nothing more than a zoo. There is so much traffic.......... If you saw it for yourself, you would have trouble believing it! Rockward Park still is very pretty in appearance. There are a few blocks in Lindenwood that have been somewhat negociated in appearance. It is still a decent area, but needs a greater police presence and less commercial business near residential zoned streets.
