Halloween 07'
I'm glad to be a 24 year old white male that lives just a few towns over from Howard Beach, the space allows me to actually remain sane. Its a shame to say that the problem is only in the kids, or teenagers, its all the way up and at times even worst with the parents. Pass down Crossbay Blvd and go down to Woodhaven Blvd and you can drive in all 5 lanes, go back up to Crossbay and 2 lanes are just for double parking only. Cops? In Howard Beach...funny! Here is what I believe is the best part about howard beach, besides that stick up their ass attitudes, These teens from HB, wear Sean John, Ecko listen to Lil Wayne, 50cent and wear big chains and talk in a urban slang, yet the second a black person steps foot in HB the bats come flying out. Seems kind of odd to me, why live that lifestyle and then bug out when a black or hispanic person crosses your path. Perhaps all you people should join the rest of us in New York and reliaze that there is nothing bad about other races and you can actually live amongst ourseleves and get the hell off this high horse you all have yourselves on. One group of kids throws an egg at another group of kids , those kids get there ass beat. Period, and perhaps the 40 vs whatever was out of line but the HB kids throwing an egg at kids from BK was the very first ignorant move of that night.

Why pick on the HB kids? Personally, I wouldn't let my kids wear Sear John clothes down below their ass. They are not all angels but why would 40 kids (25 yrs old and under)from Brooklyn come into HB with bats and hammers? Hello???????????? And this is not a hate crime? Why isnt the Rev.Al complaining this time? Because he even knows THEY were the problem

What are you refering to? There are many former residents of HB that do not hear good or bad news regarding HB. Can you please explain what happened?

listen...im 23yr old white italian male who lived in hb my whole life. i was a teenager growing up in the streets where real trouble took place. thru the 90s anytime any black kids came into here it was to steal bikes/get beat up after they stole bikes. so after a while we collectively realized those people are up to no good and we wouldnt let it happen. as far as the clothing and choice of music u described and tried to make appear wrong somehow,is just being a product of our pasts and exposiure to the enviorment of just that, the 90s. talking with slang has just developed over time from being exposed to it growing up and having to use it while trying to remain street smart which would come back to bite u if u do not. so please..dont talk about the people here with your outside point of view because its not credible. i have no problem with anybody who likes music such as metal or rock or oldies or jazz you cant be judgemental because of their choice of music, in queens, probably THE most diverse place in america, all diffrent music is liked and all diffrent clothing and fashion and languages are spoke. please dont judge people who have been exposed to the "street" side of life in hb...being streetsmart is being smart after all...isnt it?

To answer perfectchord's question, read up on the incident here: http://www.zwire.com/site/printerFriendly.cfm?brd=2731&dept_id=574995&newsid=19026950" I'm writing a follow up story and would like to hear from more HB residents, especially since there have been rallies held by some of your neighbors saying they are being portrayed unfairly. If you're willing to be interviewed, please send me an email where I can reach you. Thanks, Annie Shreffler Reporter NYC News Service Edited by - annieshreffler on November 28 2007 2:15:41 PM
