How can we make Howard beach a private Community! or Gated Community! It would be sad if it just turn into the rest of what Queens looks like today " Overly populated commercialized and NO PARKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Good idea.....I remember Howard Beach from the 50s, 60s and 70's. I had a boat at Cliff's from 1953 ntil he closed in 75. It's sad to see some of the changes in Queens. I've been gone since 1976, and can only imagine how it is. I don't know if the city would allow a gated community, ut anything to save it would be a good thing. The say change is good....but, that's not always true.

To make HB a gated community would take an awful lot of work and an awful lot of money. Consider: the streets, how would they become private property? all of the Gateway land is owned by the federal gov, how would they become private? who would maintain the streets, water mains, sewers etc.? how would the money be raised to do it?

You're right. I don't think it would even be feasible, and the cost would by high, and it's a large area and it sure would not be convient to the people who live there or those who have to go in and out each day.
