Christmas Lights on Crossbay
Is it me or do we have the saddest looking blvd in Queens. I mean whats wrong with the XMAS tree in Starbucks, its half lit and the bows are slopply placed. The lights across the blvd are totally off and so cheap looking.I remember those were used in my old neighborhood 20 years ago. I mean if we are going to get lights and trees why not do it the right way. Take a look at Middle Village or Williamsburg and see how beautiful there lights are along Metropolitan Ave. Comon Howard Beach we appreciate the lights and have long awaited them but lets get it right next year. If you need volunteers we are willing just ask.

This reply is directed to Tigrace. Judging from the amount of people that lined the streets surrounding Starbucks on sunday night i would have to say that your opinion stands alone. while it is true that there may be some temporary electrical problems on the blvd, how many times have you had to adjust the lights on the Christmas tree in your own home or outside your house. Considering the tremendous efforts by The Howard beach Columbus Day Foundation in bringing the Christmas spirit to our community for the first time ever, i would suggest that you follow the idea that 'tis the season to be jolly, not critical of everyone;s hard work. The Christmas celebration begun here on sunday night is something that deserves appreciation and respect not your 'Scrooge" like attitude. And by the way anytime you'd like to offer some constructive criticism or some hands-on help, we'd love to have you aboard. You can reach the Foundation at 718.738.7035.

Amen Publisher, well said. Some people do, and some just complain about what others volunteer and do.

There are plenty of others who feel the same way they just aren't coming foward. As far as volunteering and helping I was not asked I did not know that volunteers were needed. My husband is an electrician anytime you need one he can be reached at tigrace507@aol.com and I will let him know. We would be more then willing to help out if needed. If you contact my email I will personally email you back with the phone nubmer. I do not want to leave my number on this site. He can be reached anytime if a problem arises on the blvd, lights out etc. We are not scrooges. I was simply giving my opionion, I felt volunteers or not it could of looked a little nicer as the other neighborhoods. Thats all....

You are correct that there were many people surrounding the tree on Sunday including myself. However the opinion of the person who stated how the tree tilts is most definitely on the money. Many people including myself have stated that the trees along the blvd. look like the lights were hung poorly. Sorry you don't like to hear a person's opinion, but we are entitled to one.

This message is to those who felt the need to critize the lights and trees on crossbay blvd. As a volenteer my feelings are, come in and test the water before you voice negetive comments. All are welcome to give there time and energy to this foundation, just call our foundation number 718-738-7035 come and join us as we work together in stormy and cold weather, high winds, ect,. to decorate and put this project together. I am waiting for calls from people who feel we did not do such a good job. If you join in with us we may be able to improve next year. It would be nice to have you see first hand what a tremendous endevor this was.In closing take a step back and you might find a thank you, and understand elements that we had to deal with, and are still dealing with.
